Oils, fats union suggests ban of sunflower exports from Russia

MOSCOW, Mar 26 (PRIME) -- The Russian Union of Oils and Fats has asked the Agriculture Ministry to ban exports of sunflower seeds for six months starting from April 1, a representative of the union told PRIME late on Wednesday.

“We’ve actually sent the proposal. We received no answer yet,” the representative said.

The union’s Executive Director Mikhail Maltsev told PRIME on March 20 that the union asked the ministry to consider measures to stop price growth for sunflower seeds.

In late February, the ministry suggested a six-month increase of the export duty for sunflower in order to ensure loading of domestic processing capacities.
